The Story: Just Wait
The Author: InstantKarmaGirl
The Rating: M
The Status: WIP (66 chapters thus far)
The Summary: In a world saturated by vices, Bella is forced to move in with her father to avoid the repercussions of her past deeds. But after she meets the socially withdrawn adopted son of the town's doctor, will she allow herself to open up and heal?
My Review: Stephenie Meyer's version of Forks isn't all happy times, picket fences and rainbows like a Hollywood movie set. Neither is InstantKarmaGirl's. In fact, you could take Twilight's Forks, flip it upside down and search for its' seedy underbelly, and there you would find Just Wait.
Each and every character in this story has a dark and twisted history. Carlisle is a divorced father, raising three extremely damaged foster children. Esme is a widow raising her two children and they all share a very disturbing past. Tyler is a drug dealer. Angela is anorexic/bulimic. Jacob is the town pot head, caring for a drunk, abusive father. Charlie Swan is a drunk. Then there is Bella; promiscuous, drugged out and troubled more than all of them put together.
IKG weaves the thread of Bella's story through the fabric of Fork's residents' lives. Before long Bella finds there is no way to untangle herself, no matter how desperately she tries to pull loose. She has been stitched into the quilt that blankets the town. Even when she gets away, she is pulled back.
Through individual and group therapy sessions, arguments, conversations, outbursts and commiserating, you begin to learn all the secrets. The author notes before each and every chapter: This story contains subject matter which may be offensive to some readers. If you cannot tolerate or have triggers in regards to talk of abuse (in all its forms), you should not read this story. In addition to abuse, this work of fiction may contain references to underage drinking, drug use, self injury, consensual sex, coarse language, and other adult situations. The tragedies that they have lived will disturb you. They will break your heart. They will live on with you.
I highly suggest reading this story because once it is complete it will only stay on-line for one week. After that, it will be pulled and is being made into a series of books. Our hearty congratulations go out IKG!!! *throws confetti & passes out champagne* Yes, it's that good...great...incredible. Run, don't walk, to read this epic masterpiece.
