Squeeze My Lemon at Dirty Cheeky Monkeys

 

Let's face it, one of the major reasons we read or write fanfiction, is the lemon. We love that juicy goodness from the soft sensual kiss that leaves us breathless to the roaming fingers that find wetness in the most desired spots leaving us begging for more more more.

But we sometimes get lost in the story and the lemon can be hard to focus on. Not all of us can write entire chapters that are lemons *coughs-hunter-coughs*. So we have come up with a solution, Squeeze My Lemon.

This is a lemon writing exercise that is picture prompted. The weekly posting is an outlet to work on those skills. A writer just needs to contact us to secure a date in which their OS will be posted. They can select their own picture from our blog or bring one of their own to the table.

On 'hump day' we will be posting these lovely lemons for everyone to read (also a little something to help you get through the week). Most authors have asked if they are allowed to post the OS to their author page and they may do so, after we have posted on ours. The OS will also appear on TWCS under Dirty Cheeky Monkeys.

The OS will be teased on www.dirtycheekymonkeys.blogspot.com and on twitter.

We encourage you to write and submit entries, as well as read and review those posted. So stretch those lemon muscles, squeeze our lemon and give us the juices.

Requirements:

Minimum Word Count: 2,000

Maximum: How ever you want to wow us

Subject: Pretty much whatever you want, canon, slash, polyslash, self-pleasure, lemon juice, lemon wedges ~ ~ a prompt will be provided to get you, um, going

Exclusions: No rape, pedofilia, incest, necrophilia (not including vampires) or beastality

Submissions must be beta'd

"We decided to step out of the box a little and do a fuckaweseome contest to recognize different kinds of fics that are not one of the Epic fics (yet).  We realize that there are thousands of stories in the FF world and when contest are held a lot of the big name stories win every time. That is awesome, but there are also some stories that are great, addicting, and just brilliant that do not get the same spotlight.

We also have a few categories out of the norm. Everyone loves a contest, everyone loves to pimp their favorite stories out, so why not have a Fucktastic Fic Award Show for shits a giggles? This is going to be fun, this will also add new stories to your ever growing TBR lists we know it.

Good Morning All!

Designers: Show Off Your Stuff At TwiFicPics

TwiFicPics is a website run by m81170 and ms. ambrosia. They have helpful tutorials for banner and blinkie makers and now they've added an awesome new feature that will help us designers out there!

Here is the article explaining the new feature.

Basically, as long as you're registered at the forums on TwiFicPics, you have the ability to post your work on the MAIN PAGE. Isn't that amazing?

They go into more detail on how to post and sign up on the site, but i just thought I would let everyone know about this great opportunity. Let me know if you guys decide to post over there, I'd love to see your work.

Fanfiction Pet Peeves

This is just some pretty that I felt the need to add. TwistedInMasen made that for me and I heart her for it! *licks*

What are YOUR Pet Peeves when it comes to fanfiction?

These are some that I have compiled from twitter, in no particular order of course!

Readers POV Peeves:

• Reading one chapter in one characters POV, and then reading the next chapter only to find that it is the exact same chapter from another characters POV


• The line 'ever so softly...'


• Bella being a bitch for no reason/Misunderstanding and then not communicating.


• Poorly written fics with a ton of reviews. Theyre misleading.


• Edwards sudden transformation from manwhore to sainthood after one good lay.


• When Edward keeps secrets from Bella, thinking that he's "protecting her"


• Leaving a heartfelt in depth review and getting no response in return. Sometimes readers just want a simple thanks to at least let them know you value their thoughts.


• Characters saying I Love You every other paragraph/sentence.


• Constant POV changes within a chapter. It gets confusing.


• Abandoned stories. They turn people off of reading WIPs


• Lemons without a plot (AKA poorly disguised porn)


• Carlisle being an asshole


• Edward being a manwhore


• Wrong quotation marks used throughout a story.

Authors POV Peeves:

• One word or emoticon reviews. They get that its a review and it counts, but an author works hard on these chapters.


• On the other hand, people who leave lovely reviews but dont sign them. No way to thank them.


• People who offer to Beta and then dont follow through.


• Beta'd work that still has mistakes in it.


• Reviewers that flame, Constructive Criticism is okay.


• This is good, or This isnt good, and no actual feedback. Feedback truly helps, people.


• Readers that complain about chapter lengths. If you dont like shorter chapters, dont read it!

General Peeves:

• Profiles with clutter that doesnt have anything to do with fanfiction on it.


• Fandom drama


• People that complain a fic isn't realistic, yet they read books about vampires...


• Fandom Drama


• Review Whoring/Withholding without Cause.


• Fandom Drama


• Very slow updaters.


• Fandom Drama (I'm starting to see a trend here)

Thats all I have for now. I might do these regularily! It helps people air their greivances and people can yell at me about it instead of yall!

Foxy Fics: Donate to a Great Cause!

A message from FoxyFics:

I have witnessed the fandom pulling together in the past, with charities such as Fandom Gives Back and all the wonderful things done for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Fics for Nashville, and Haiti Relief. I have always been amazed by the power and influence we have. Running this charity, something that hits close to home for me, has brought an even closer perspective to me of how truly astounding this community is. 

You see, my Father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease last year. He is an amazing person, one who has always been there for me and my family, and I am proud to have him in my life. This fundraiser is dedicated to him and everyone else who knows someone suffereing from PD.

I began the idea of Foxy Fics only a month and a half ago, and I have already had endless support and offers for help. And, today, as we begin the chance for people to donate, the response has been overwhelming.  To all who have participated and to those of you still planning to donate— thank you.

Drama-Rama

I feel the need to have my own input in the Rob/Emma/RobHards drama.

Its pretty disgusting the things that went down after the airing of last nights Jay Leno Episode. For those who live under a rock and have NO idea what I am talking about, here's a link!

The real question is, WHO exactly is the bad guy here? Is it Emma Roberts for the fact that she is Team Jacob? Or is it because she stated that she was Team Jacob in front of Edwards portrayer...Is she not allowed to have a preference. Okay, or is it Rob, for subtly calling her out on her 'relationship' with Micheal Angarano? I mean, we all know the history there...Maybe it was just the bitchy attitude they both sort of used. I never expected them to become best friends.

But what really got me going, was the fact that a truckload of Rob/Twihards felt it necessary to harass Emma's twitter with belittling comments, for I don't even KNOW what reason, thus, her deleting her account being the end result.

Really guys? Is this how we act now? Some days I'm pretty embarrassed to be a part of this fandom. The fact that this resulted into people calling her a Cunt, a Slag, and a Whore...for probably the stupidest reason known to man, is completely insane.

I must say, when I watched that segment, I laughed! I mean come on, it was awkward from the start right from that weird little 'OMG I have to hug you' moment.

I say we focus on other things! Like how bloody cute the 'Dear Rob' emails were, how good he looked, and the fact that he drove a car while it was on fire...

Flame me if you like.

The Dawn of the Fic Pusher

I want to start off by thanking the people that helped get me just to the point Im at this very moment...which I'll admit isn't very far at all. As some of you know, I recently started a Twilight Fanfiction pushing service on twitter. You can find me at @TheFicPusher . I will push all sorts of fics, only Twilight related, of course. They can be O/S, WIP, complete, old, new,lots of reviews, few reviews, you get the picture. Also, any shipping as well as AH, AU, Vamps, etc. Any genre...(just remember that I am an angst monster. I feed off of it)

I do have a rule however. I will not push anything that I myself have not read. Therefore, if you get me your details, and I don't get around to it right away, it usually means that I haven't read it yet.

Another *rule*, or 'rule of thumb' so to speak, is that if you do read any of the rec'd stories, or any stories for that matter, please be kind and leave a review. You'd want the same done for you. Reviews are what gets the writers going.

As for how to get me to push a story for you, all you have to do is DM me on twitter with the link, basically. I can do the rest from there. Once again, don't be discouraged if you arent rec'd right away. I will get there in time!

Any rec's that go out on twitter will then be found here, and vice versa!

Reminder, I am BRAND SPANKING NEW at this, so bear with me. It's only been a couple of days.
