I first read the summary of this story and was like: O_o...that's...different. I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did. The story doesn't really focus on Bella's time dressed as a boy, it's more about her and Edward reuniting several years later. Lies of the Soul is well-written, complete and definitely not something you have ever read before!

Hammer and a Nail by DTS Guru

Sometimes the wolf chooses an imprint that surprises everyone. The pairing seems completely wrong on the surface. But as the two strive to make their relationship work, will they find the wolf knew what he was doing after all?

Yeah...it's another Paul/Bella story. I can't stay away! The Paul in this story is the overbearing ass we all know and love to hate. I am thoroughly enjoying Hammer and a Nail, there are eight chapters up right now and things will be heating up soon!

La Lune Bleu by A.S. Rainwater

Bella has moved to the city to get away from Forks. She takes a gig giving guitar lessons on weekends for extra cash, in result meeting someone who might get her to change her loner ways...

Pairing: Alice/Bella

Status: WIP

Genre: Femslash, Non-Canon

I was so happy to find this little gem. Good femslash is hard to come by and this one impressed me a lot. Bella is kind of a tomboy, Alice is a girly-girl and somehow they fit perfectly. What cracked me up was the author's description of Edward:

One of the two bartenders was a pasty skinned guy with crazy hair that looked like he had just stood in front of a shop fan on super high, then just slathered gel through it, and thought it looked hot. I thought that it would come in handy if the roof fell in; he would have plenty of protection with his stupid hair-don't. He slid up to me and gave a crooked grin that I am sure he thought was as sexy as his hair, and I puked a little in my mouth.

"What can I do for you, sweetheart?" he asked in a voice I'm sure he also thought sounded like velvet, only it sounded as gross and scratchy as the five o' clock shadow on his chin.

"Two shots of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey, if you've got it, and a bottle of Heineken." He raised his bushy eyebrows at me, and I almost asked him if wanted me to shoot around the corner to the drugstore and pick him up a pair of tweezers, but he flipped around to fill my order. Good boy. I'll call you Jimmy Neutron.

One last thing...did anyone else know that The Vampire in the Basement is now complete?! I did a little happy dance when I saw that. This was one of the first fics I ever read and I was so disappointed when the author stopped updating. Apparently she returned at some point and finished! So if you haven't checked out The Vampire in the Basement, go do it! It is one of the most original plots I have ever read and you will fall in love with michellephants's Vampward.

This post is a teeny bit late...sorry about that! But I'm here and I'm ready to show you My Top Picks of the Week...

Harmonic Convergence by Nostalgicmiss and Sabi'sSookie

When Bella comes to stay with Charlie, his first inclination is to keep her away from the vampires and send her to school on the Reservation where she'll be protected. Her life changes forever when bad boy Paul comes out to play.

I'm basking in all the good wolfpack fics that are being written right now and Harmonic Convergence has got to be one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for a good Paul/Bella story...you can probably tell from previous posts! This one has a nice twist to it and if you haven't checked it out already, be sure to give it a try! It's well written and updates regularly :)

The Slowest Burn by TypoKween

This story updates every Friday and I swear I am refreshing my inbox for that new chapter. High school fics usually aren't my thing, but damn, the title really rings true: this story is a slow burn. If you like your Edward a little possessive, a little badass and a lot angry, The Slowest Burn is for you. I really can't get enough of it! Go read... *pushes you to the link*

Although he is still mourning the loss of his wife, Edward can't resist the attraction to Bella. This fic is a must-read for those who love a sexy and sophisticated Edward. The Procrustean Bed will not disappoint you, go leave the author some love for this amazing story!

Four years later she returns to La Push (her father lives there with his new wife Sue) when her 3 year old son start having some, er, furry issues. I've never read a storyline like this, if you're a sucker for Wolf/Bella fics like me then you need to check out Shades of Gray! All the chapters are already written and the author updates frequently *cheers*

I've got some juicy fics for you this week. Check these stories out and make sure to leave the authors some love (and tell them we sent you *winks*).

Under Heaven's Skies by sunflowersongs

Bella, looking for meaning and a new start to her life after tragedy and hurt, visits Alice and Jasper's ranch where she meets Alice's brother Edward. Sparks fly, but neither are looking for love.

"Walking towards it, with his back to us, swinging a lasso, was a tall, shirtless man. I was riveted to his body and the ripple of muscles across his back as he worked the rope. He had on a large, off-white cowboy hat, low-slung jeans, and a pair of leather cowboy boots. He was trim and fit and tanned from the sun. His body- at least his back and amazing firm ass- was sex personified."

And that's how we meet Cowboyward....can I get an UNF? This fic is just starting up, three chapters posted so far and I'm already sucked into the story. Both the characters are dealing with recent tragedies but can't resist the spark they feel. Hopefully there will be more good things to come from this fic!

When Darkness Falls by La Vita Nuova

When Sam Uley disappears, darkness begins to creep into the small town of Forks, trapping Bella under the watchful eyes of a father. But Charlie isn't the only one watching... An imprint is for life... at least that's what they said.

"No one stopped to stare anymore as her truck back-fired; no one paid her any mind at all. Like the leaves that had fallen to cover the land, or the rain which until recently had perpetually tumbled from the sky, Bella simply blended into the background. Sometimes the way her peers casually dismissed her existence hurt in a way she couldn't explain, but today wasn't one of those days either."

Another wonderful Bella/Paul story from the same author who wrote In Omne Tempus. Bella never befriended the Cullens and they left soon after she arrived only to return again. A girl from the La Push reservation has gone missing and Charlie is in overprotective dad mode, not letting Bella see her good friend Embry down on the rez. What happens when she meets Paul again....and what happened to Emily Young?

This fic has 14 chapter up as of now, all you wolf lovers have got to check it out! And even if you're not into the canine variety, give this one a chance. La Vita Nuova is an excellent writer and always keeps me on my toes!

Money problems, crazy ex-boyfriends and creepy co-workers are just some of the things this pair has to deal with. This story is a quick read and it has Daddysper! How can you resist?

My Top 3 of the Week (5/8 - 5/15)

*waves* Welcome to a new feature on The Wayward Pushers! Every Sunday I'll be making a post of my favorite fics from the past week. I read a variety of pairings and genres, so hopefully you'll find at least one story that suits your fancy! Here are three fics that owned me this week...

Bourbon and Tea by Zigster

Two broken souls live on the same street, sharing only a lawn. He barely knows her name, and she judges him by the bottle in his hand. Together, they'll inadvertently help heal each other's wounds.

This story is beautifully written and really sweet. Jasper is struggling with alcoholism and Bella is his neighbor who is very familiar with Jasper's situation. I ate up every single chapter and can't wait for an update, there's only about two chapters left before it's over *sniffs*

Be Like Water by taoist elf

Snapping up Bella and Paul at the slap and going to play with them. Complexities, realistic characters, angst, romance, intensity and even some smut. Imprinting - but not the generally agreed upon way - it's complicated.

I love me some Paul/Bella and I just found this one the other day. If you enjoy a good wolfpack story, check this little guy out.

Leaves of Grass by Nauticalmass

After returning from Italy, Bella's not sure if she can still love Edward. The next morning, she awakens in an unimaginable time and place: Houston, 1862. When she encounters a member of the Cullen family as a human, how far will she follow her heart?

Time travel and Jasper? My two favorite things! Seriously, I think 1862 Jasper is my all-time favorite. All southern gentleman and confederate soldier-like...*sigh* All Jasper lovers need to read this story! And if you don't like Jasper...what's wrong with you?
